Etsy Finds - 10/27

Divine Lionesss - $15 for a set of 3 of these gorgeous blooms!

I've decided to give a little love to the Etsy community, because they basically make my search for handmade goodies that much easier, and I (obviously) love all things handmade! I've started a forum thread ( here ) where any Etsian can post their favorite items for consideration. I'm not sure how often I'll pull from it, but probably every other day or so because there is just so much Etsy goodness that I bet I'm going to be able to find! I'm so glad I came up with this idea because it is super duper fun! (And you know how much I love fun!! ^ . ^) Let the awesome Etsy goodness begin!

Huge painting from Winston Westerman -  $500

Waterlily Pin Custion from BabyNest - $10

Organic Nesting Bowls - $35 (comes in so many colors!) from Eco Chic Hand Knits

Serrelynda - $16 Earrings!

Also from Divine Lionesss - $6.50! - This would make such a pretty ornament!

I hope you enjoy these finds! Stay tuned for more to come! I hope to make this a regular thing! And don't forget to submit your own things on the thread!

Tech Update #2

Lovely bag from Buenos Aires is Unico  (found via Bliss)

Alright, so after some bug fixes and tedious, tedious link altering, we now have some pretttty smooth things happening on the shop site. For instance, as I said before, you can now navigate between products via a next/previous link (which now works perfectly because I am a problem solver!). As you may notice on some of the pages - housewares and jewelry are examples - you can now rearrange the collection to view by price, bestselling items, or newest! I think this is by far the best improvement yet, because I for one love that feature on most websites (probably because I'm a cheapskate hehe). If you can think of anything else you'd like to see, please let us know and we will try our darnedest to implement it! Soon all the collection pages will have this super neat organizing feature, but it's a slow process, so please bear with us while we get it all together! :)

New improvements and stuff

Some Art We Heart - Gheybin Comish

The shop site is growing every day and I am so excited to say that our first ever Surprise Sale was a huge, huge success! You guys placed 18 orders in one hour! A record for sure! Not only that, but we are working on ways to make shopping that much easier. I am excited to announce that we have just implemented Live Help Chat! (via Olark) This now means that if you are curious about how anything works, looks, feels or smells on our site, you can surely ask - at almost any hour of the day or night! Don't be shy! If you've had your eye on something for a while and don't know how soft it is/how big it is/when you'll get it... etc... you can ask and we will have an answer for you.
You can ask any old thing you want too! Would you like to know what we had for breakfast? If we can get a specific product in for you? What books we like to read lately? You got it! Answers will be served! So, use that little blue button at the top right of your window and say howdy! We'd love to hear from you!!

The other fun and awesome thing we just added, is the ability to navigate between products in any given collection via a next/previous link! So much easier!!

Let us know about anything else you'd like to see on the site to make it better!

More innovations to come soon, so stay tuned! :)

The Key - New Dallas Shaw!

As usual, things are super busy here at Fey Handmade, and we just got in these beautiful, and fashionable paintings from our friend Dallas! Dallas Shaw is an amazing artist and businesswoman that I have been so lucky to make friends with over the past few months. So, when Dallas approached me with the idea of selling her beautiful art on Fey Handmade, I just jumped at the chance of course! All of the pretty paintings come with their own mini framed key. The paintings themselves are done in acrylic on super stylish designer wallpaper  - how neat is that?! They all come framed and ready for hanging.

You can snatch up some of her art in our shop - here -  and find out more about the artist on her site - DallasShaw.com or her blog (which I get lost in regularly!) - Dilly Dallas

These would definitely make phenomenal gifts for the holidays! Wouldn't you say? ; ) We are so excited to welcome Dallas to our little family! Hip hip, hooray! (haha)

Art We Heart - Lauren Rosenthal

Yesterday I met the most wonderful artist! Lauren Rosenthal had a piece showing at SICA, here in New Jersey and I met her through my boyfriend who knows her boyfriend... long story. Her work is so intricate and amazing and I just couldn't wait to share it with you.

She makes these beautiful sculptures that are cut paper and wood. I can't even wrap my mind around how long each of these beauties must take! Lauren also had a lot of art-related advice for me, which these days, is really what I need.
Many of the pieces are based on land and rivers. You can read more about Lauren's process and philosophies on her website - Lauren Rosenthal Studio. I hope you enjoy figuring these out! Amazing!!

The greatest discovery since StumbleUpon

Ok, so, if you haven't heard of StumbleUpon, you are in for some boredom butt kicking. But now, if you're like me, then you've never heard of Tumblr and you are about to find out about another, not only boredom butt kicking site, but a beautiful assortment of web goodies that you will want to swim around in for daysss. It is a simple blogging tool of sorts where you can post just about anything, from anywhere, in just about 10 seconds. Here is my interpretation of this medium : ) - Cool Kids :: they belong together And here are some examples of the goodness I can easily share with the world and keep for myself in a beautiful collection of inspiration -- all via a button on my browser (yes!)

Random, but awesome, no? Well, I'm enjoying it at least. It's like a really big inspiration board! If you have a tumblr, let me know and I'll follow you on my tubmlr! Yayy! Oh, that reminds me - the community on this site seems to be so creative and fun, it's down right refreshing! Check out some of these other tumblrs I've found that I believe to be very inspiring - Jared Norman , We Sleep in Parking Lots , F* Yeah Pretty Girls (not gonna spell out the F Bomb.. but for some reason there seem to be a lot of people on this site that like it... ? It's alright by me as long as nobody gets hurt!)

I hope you enjoy what you find there if you decide to join, or at least peruse around the prettiness and funkiness there!

Cool Thingy

I just had to share it. I got it in my Photojojo newsletter (which is so awesome by the way). It is a new instant camera from Fuji! Hooray!!! I was so bummed when Polaroid died and now.. maybe we are redeemed with this new and adorable Asian sensation! Here's what photojojo has to say - "No USB cables, no memory cards, and no computer. Just a few basic chemical reactions that develop in the palm of your hand. Best of all, Fuji continues to make new cameras and new film, so you won't need to go hunting for your instant film fix." LOVE IT! And it's only $90! You can get it at photojojo's store here. Yayy!!

I'm totally getting one!! : )

Cheery Art

I'm sorry I've gone missing for a few days. If you check out the shop site you'll see that there is a whole bunch of new stuff, and I have to admit that when the shop gets lovin', the blog does not. One of these days maybe I'll be able to prioritize my time a little better (or just get someone to write the blog for me!) but for now, I'm a one man (or girl!) band with this stuff.
Well, any way, I'm feeling a little discouraged today, so I figured I'd seek out some cheery art to lift my spirits!

I found Dana Komjaty, who is a lovely artist originally from Eastern Europe, but now living in wonderful Amsterdam! I visited that beautiful spot once and it was a dream : ) so I could imagine living there must be super inspirational - and it definitely shows in Dana's beautiful, childlike art. It's so whimsical and I love, love it!

Small personal side note: It's so weird to me that Dana also had an epiphany similar to me in the sense that she had an etsy shop that she felt was full of chaos and she needed to branch out with a more cohesive themed shop, just as I did with my own art! She says in her profile on the new shop - "By opening this shop i will be able to give my painting and drawing ambitions their own place. This way it won't be so crowded and clouded as it was until now in my other(LeiLiLaLoo)shop. There I sold sewn items/paintings/drawings/prints/giftcards/ ribbon etc...etc. In other words too much different things that have little but their maker in common!" I have often looked at my own art and thought.. this looks nothing like what I created yesterday... what am I going to do? So I started fresh.. and almost at the same time as Dana! (In August)(must of been a weird planetary shift then hehe) You can view her two shops here - Dana Komjaty and here - LeilLiLaLoo (...and in case you're curious about my shops - MaiAutumn and LindstromcommaC - go check em out and you'll see what I mean) I think that both her shops look amazing and if I were her, I wouldn't worry : )

Another trait I so very much love about Dana is her admitting that she is a pack rat! I love artists who keep hoards of stuff because - one day - they might make something with it! I do it, and I'm positive it is just a weird creative person trait, because most every artist I meet does this same thing. I feel so sorry for the poor spouses or roommates we end up with ; )

I hope you enjoy Dana Komjaty's work as much as I have! It truly has put me in a better mood!

Wallpaper

 **
I get a little obsessive. So this is my attempt to show you all maybe 3-4 examples of what I'm thinking about and move on! Today's current obsession: wallpaper. I think it haunts me for several reasons.... Firstly, I bought a book about Florence Broadhurst about a year ago and never read it... Secondly, I have rented my living space since I moved out of my parents house, (and obviously I had no choice over the wall coverings there either). That being said, I so so wish I could wallpaper every darn wall in this apartment some days! But I can't (it's in the lease) so for now, I'll daydream about my blank walls being covered in something fabulous... : )

Fey Handmade Abode

Hope everyone is having a happy Sunday out there! I have had a lovely weekend so far, just hanging out in my lovely apartment with my boyfriend. I figured, since I spend so much time in this place, I might share a little bit of it with you! : )

I love to have floral arrangements throughout my apartment just because it makes me feel like there are some beautiful, fleeting things around me. Reminds me to slow down and enjoy those flowers now. haha

I love to take photos just when I'm around my space. Especially when I feel like there is a certain feeling to capture. This particular photo was taken when my brother stopped by to keep me company while my boyfriend was away on work for a while. We always have so much to talk about and I feel like we just have the best time together. I love the lights in this : )

Here is the lovely view from my window. Ah, Asbury Park! It's always a bustlin' with excitement! When the sun sets a certain way, it always makes this building and these trees glow. I love it!!
And! Here's me! I was having a particularly good day and my boyfriend caught a shot of me before we went out for the night (to the famous Stone Pony!!) I thought, maybe, some people would like to see the face behind the Fey. hehe

I hope you enjoy the little glimpse into my world! Hopefully more fun things (and photos!) will happen so that I can share them with you soon : )!

Cravings - Cupcakes

**
This post was a bad idea. I'm craving a cupcake today and so, I decided it would be a super idea to write about, what else, cupcakes! Oh dear. It's making things that much worse! Now, I don't just want a cupcake, I NEED a cupcake! I don't have time for a cupcake though, so please go get yourself a cupcake if you can!!

I used to work for an awesome cake designer and there would always be extra cakely goodness around to snack on. It was about an hour and a half commute for me and I just couldn't do it any more. Makes me so sad because I just miss everyone so much and it was really the perfect job for me. Maybe someday I'll work in a bakery again, but for now, I will write my blogs and answer emails and dream about beautiful and delicious cupcakes all day : ) Not a bad trade, right? *sigh!*
The delicious beauties above are from one of my favorite blogs - CakeSpy. They have the sweetest stories, recipes, and inside scoops ever! I did an interview for them once (what feels like) a long longg time ago. Check that out here. I actually came across this lovely blog because I was friends with the sister of the author (Jessie) in high school! Her sister Bridget found out that I was interning at a cake designer and hooked us up. That was such a thrill! I really love the cute little goodies Jessie makes in her art world as well -

Ah so cute! Buy cakespy goodies here
