Mai Autumn

Hello lovely readers! I just wanted to drop in after this long absence to direct you over to my personal blog, Mai Autumn. There has been a lot going on in my little world (if you've been over to the shop, you will see lots of changes there too!), and I have decided it may be time to bid this blog farewell. Although, I am still constantly finding inspiration while I'm perusing the internet all day, so you can find some of my discoveries over on Pinterest, as well as on the Mai Autumn blog, from time to time.

I have had so much fun sharing lovely finds with you all! I look forward to seeing you over at Mai Autumn! (I can't wait for you to see what exciting things I have in store!)

:)

Thank you for reading!

Inspiration, Creativity, and a Community for the Seekers

With this new design, I'd like to share with you all, the new direction this blog is preparing to take. For the longest time, I've wanted to create something of meaning to me, and for the past two years, it has culminated in the shop that is Fey Handmade. In addition to that creation, I want to extend my own inspiration by sharing so much more with my dear readers. I hope you will enjoy this new direction and share it with those you think would also enjoy coming with us on our journey! :) So here goes - my new mission for this blog (ahem):

Fey Handmade aims to inspire its readers through art, ideas, unknown cultures and simple, yet magical, everyday observations. This is a place to stop and notice the little things that make life beautiful. A place to be creative, independent and free-spirited. This site is for those that are constantly seeking. And we hope that we can provide that spark of inspiration for you each day, and that you return again to share your experience with us.

Fey Handmade features independent designs, businesses and ideas that are paving the way to a more sustainable future, where amazing design is supported and celebrated.

I came upon the notion of moving the blog in this direction when I realized what I do on a daily basis - look for inspiration! If I'm not doing that, then I may be actually creating something (but more than likely, that is only a small fraction of my day!) Inspiration is what keeps me going and makes me feel like I have a purpose in my life. I like to think that all that inspiring is leading me to greater things, but I may never see a concrete indication of that - and that's okay! It may result in new art or a new pretty thing in the shop, but it's not always so apparent where anything comes from in my creative world. I'm often such a logical thinker, and it's hard for me to take a step back and realize that everything isn't so cut and dry all the time. Inspiration is one of those things that is elusive, vague and indefinable. My goal with this new way of blogging is to bring all of that elusiveness into a little more of a tangible place. Simple as that. It's a lot to take on, but I think it's going to be a great ride!

I'm so excited to share all of this with you! You can expect to see a whole lot more posting (hopefully, if I can keep up with myself!) and there will be lots of guest posting coming soon as well.

Let me know any ideas or thoughts you might have about this! I would love to hear them :) Hope you all have a great weekend!

New at Fey Handmade for June

If you're a friend of Fey Handmade on Facebook then you have already heard that I am in the process of designing lots of new jewelry! I love to create all sorts of things and I've been finding lately that I just can't find the type of jewelry I want to wear and represent, so I decided to start on the design process myself. I've been so inspired by all the beautiful jewelry I see out there that is waaay out of my budget (owning a company doesn't exactly bode well for spending lavish amounts of money on yourself!) and I want to create pieces that are not only affordable, but are bold, yet delicate, feminine beauties. Yes, that is a lot to ask, but I am determined! :) I hope you enjoy what I've come up with so far. I'm starting out small and hope to get bigger ideas as I go along. Let me know what you think! I would love some feedback!

You can find all these handmade pretties over in Fey Handmade - in our jewelry section.

Happy Birthday to Me!

So, tomorrow is officially my birthday! Yipee! I decided to post some birthday related photos to get me in the mood (because I'm kind of not since it's raining and freezing.. although it's supposed to be 70 degrees and sunny this time of year in Jersey.. ah well! what's a girl to do?)

And last but not least....

lols

:)

I have no idea what I'm going to do tomorrow, but I believe for once I may actually not work so much! (or at least I will try!)

New Year's Eve!

A little glimpse into the great celebration my boyfriend and I hosted at our apartment this new year's eve. It was such a fun time and I am so glad I got to share this special evening with all my close friends and family.

Me and some friends about to enjoy the dessert!

(and of course I had to share a photo of the delicious Cardinal Slice cake I made especially for the occasion! Something like a tiramisu, but it's made with espresso couleur whipped cream and meringue sandwiched between ladyfinger spongecake) (yes!)

Photos provided by my lovely boyfriend :)

Hello Lover

I just wanted to share my excitement for my new and beautiful computer today! I received it as a gift from my wonderful parents who support everything I do in my life and my business and I couldn't be more appreciative of their extreme generosity and the love that they shower me with :) :) I am so lucky to have people around me that care so much about my happiness and livelihood. Ahhh I could just have a big group hug with them and my gorgeous new iMac!!

Now that I have perfection over here at my desk, I'm already thinking up ways to compliment the sleek and oh so innovative design of this fantastic machine.

Turkey Hangover... Still

My first Thanksgiving went off without a hitch. I made a turkey that looked quite similar to the one pictured above and I am very proud! I'd like to thank Martha, first and foremost, because if I hadn't seen her Thanksgiving special.. I would have had no idea to cover that bird in butter and wine soaked cheesecloth the first three hours of cooking! (Yes... butter makes everything better!) It made all the difference! Let me tell you! And, I am also so thankful that I have such a wonderful family who all get along. It was a great day and I'm so glad I got to host for my very first time!

Now, onto what you've been waiting for... SALES! I know we didn't do a whole Black Friday thing, just merely because we're not about that here. If you have been reading this blog diligently, you may remember a day in October when there happened to be a Secret Sale... and that is exactly what you're going to get right now!!! Well, several Secret Sales before this weekend is over, so you never know what to expect!

Today until Midnight EST - Enter Code CRANBERRY at checkout and receive $20 off any order over $85 !!

Go Shop!

:)
Hope everyone had a happy holiday here in the states!

Overload

This week/weekend has been a wonderful, but crazy one! We were featured on Sweetspot on Thursday, and the shop site is basically cleaned out! Almost every one of a kind item is gone and we've had so many orders for our regular inventory items that I had to come up with a major system to deal with the amount of organization that needed to be done to orchestrate this much at once! I still haven't counted how many individual orders came in, but it was somewhere between 30 and 40 (in 24 hours!) It was an amazing response and I can only hope that the lovely team at Sweetspot will want to feature us again soon :)

We are also going to be welcoming about 15 new designers in the coming week, so stay tuned for some exciting additions to our shop! Lots of new art and some amazing fashions to be exact on what to expect. I cannot wait to get everything up for you to enjoy! Here's a sneak peek at what's to come!

Gabrielle Kai Photographic Prints

Lemon Grove Jewelry

Sushi Pie Hats & Hair Accessories

Stephanie Teague Clothing

Now, tell me you're not excited about all this handmade, lovely goodness that's about to come to Fey Handmade! Can't wait! Bear with me while everything gets back to normal working order around here, now that the Canadians of Sweetspot have propelled this little company into hyper drive! haha

Talk to you soon!!

Fey Handmade Abode

Hope everyone is having a happy Sunday out there! I have had a lovely weekend so far, just hanging out in my lovely apartment with my boyfriend. I figured, since I spend so much time in this place, I might share a little bit of it with you! : )

I love to have floral arrangements throughout my apartment just because it makes me feel like there are some beautiful, fleeting things around me. Reminds me to slow down and enjoy those flowers now. haha

I love to take photos just when I'm around my space. Especially when I feel like there is a certain feeling to capture. This particular photo was taken when my brother stopped by to keep me company while my boyfriend was away on work for a while. We always have so much to talk about and I feel like we just have the best time together. I love the lights in this : )

Here is the lovely view from my window. Ah, Asbury Park! It's always a bustlin' with excitement! When the sun sets a certain way, it always makes this building and these trees glow. I love it!!
And! Here's me! I was having a particularly good day and my boyfriend caught a shot of me before we went out for the night (to the famous Stone Pony!!) I thought, maybe, some people would like to see the face behind the Fey. hehe

I hope you enjoy the little glimpse into my world! Hopefully more fun things (and photos!) will happen so that I can share them with you soon : )!

Our Week - 4th of July

It has been a busy summer so far for Fey Handmade. We took some much needed time to rest over the 4th of July.

Our intern, Caroline, was just in North Carolina with her family for our nation's birthday. Check out these amazing photos she took of the ocean! (I would have never guessed that is what these are... surreal, right?)

ah, summer...
I love Caroline's photos!

And I got to take a very exciting trip to Boston for the weekend. Most of the trip was for baseball related reasons. I'm a pretty big Red Sox fan, so seeing Fenway Park was probably the biggest moment of my baseball life... until... I got to walk on the field. That's right. For reasons I must keep somewhat under wraps, I got to be ON the field! (and I accidentally walked on the grass even though we weren't allowed) This was no tour related excursion. No sir. Let's just say, I know people. Maybe I'll tell you the story soon though! wink wink

I just love the spirit in this town!

It is such a beautiful city and I cannot wait to get back! I even considered moving there! That's only happened once before - Savannah. Ah, I love discovering new places!
