Imaginary Vacation - Flavors

Today, we are going to be looking at exotic tastes of faraway locales. The items featured are all available for mail order via Etsy, so you can have a little sweet something to remind you of the tropics, without leaving home! (above: Chocolate Orange Cardamom Shortbread from The Groovy Baker)

Yum, yum, yum!

Cravings - Holiday Cookies

Now that it's December, I am officially in the mood for some delicious holiday sweets! I love having lots of sweet little cookies in my kitchen for guests who might pop in at this festive time of year (and of course for myself while I'm working at my little desk!)

I used to have a great book of holiday cookie recipes, but somehow it seems to have gotten lost when we moved last year. Every recipe had a little bit of history with each cookie, and I just loved telling the story of where each cookie came from as my friends and family enjoyed each little, teeny bite :)

Now that the season is upon us again, I am trying to put together a great little list of beautiful holiday cookies that I can whip up while I'm bored (yea, cause that happens!) Hope you get inspired to bake up a little something! :)

And finally, what good would a whole bunch of delicious cookies be without a fabulous handmade cookie jar?? :)

Cravings - Cupcakes

**
This post was a bad idea. I'm craving a cupcake today and so, I decided it would be a super idea to write about, what else, cupcakes! Oh dear. It's making things that much worse! Now, I don't just want a cupcake, I NEED a cupcake! I don't have time for a cupcake though, so please go get yourself a cupcake if you can!!

I used to work for an awesome cake designer and there would always be extra cakely goodness around to snack on. It was about an hour and a half commute for me and I just couldn't do it any more. Makes me so sad because I just miss everyone so much and it was really the perfect job for me. Maybe someday I'll work in a bakery again, but for now, I will write my blogs and answer emails and dream about beautiful and delicious cupcakes all day : ) Not a bad trade, right? *sigh!*
The delicious beauties above are from one of my favorite blogs - CakeSpy. They have the sweetest stories, recipes, and inside scoops ever! I did an interview for them once (what feels like) a long longg time ago. Check that out here. I actually came across this lovely blog because I was friends with the sister of the author (Jessie) in high school! Her sister Bridget found out that I was interning at a cake designer and hooked us up. That was such a thrill! I really love the cute little goodies Jessie makes in her art world as well -

Ah so cute! Buy cakespy goodies here

Leftovers

Found via Photojojo, this fantastic food blog has some inspiring Polaroids. Leftovers. The writer takes a photo of everything they eat, every day! This is a great type of habit to get into. If you want to become a better photographer - or better at anything for that matter - it is best to at least attempt to do it every day.

I, myself, have been attempting to do a whole mess of things every day. Here is a list of my "goals" (haha):
Update this blog every day (almost there... maybe not)
Update the shop site every day (definitely on the way to doing that!)
Draw every day (not even a chance)
Meditate on a somewhat regular basis (at least I try)

Every year I also try to stick to Project365, (also originally found via Photojojo a few years ago). Same concept as the food photos - you take at least one photo (of anything!), every single day of the year. Hence, 365! It's not as easy as it sounds though. I always get up to about March and then something shifts and I get out of my mode. Some days there are hundreds of photos and other days... you know.. those days where you're just hanging around in your pjs watching Martha... what's there to take a photo of? And then it starts to crumble. I must say that I have become somewhat of a better photographer because of the habit though!

So get out there and take some photos! Do what you love :)

cravings .a new way.

I'm sorry to say that our old blog is going away.. but it will be replaced by this much more efficient and exciting new blog on blogspot! Hooray!! Out with the old and in with the new... as in the new topics we will be covering on a daily basis. We love reading blogs that have useful information abounding from within the depths of their psyches.
We at Fey Handmade have so many little things that inspire us all the time, and we are going to do our darn hardest to try and get all that great stuff to you. You can look forward to new posts and features about all the things that make your life interesting - from vintage shopping to art to interior design, photography and food. You name it, and we will hopefully be able to bring some of the best of it!

To start the blogging off right, we are bringing you a feature of foods of all kinds. Here you will find photography, recipes, restaurants and more.
This evening, in preparation for tomorrow (a little early) I'm loving these great breakfast shots!

This photographer hasn't had any sales on her brand new Etsy shop, so go check out Alice Gao photography. Her shop name is adorable too - thecheshiresmile
